How does Durak work?

The game uses 36 cards from six to ace, and each player gets six. The face-up card under the stock sets the trump suit. The attacker plays a card, and the defender beats it with a higher card of the same suit or with a trump. The attacker may add cards of a rank that is already on the table. If the defender cannot beat them, they pick up all the cards. Whoever is the last one left holding cards is the durak.

The full rules and tips are below the card table in single player.

How do I play against a friend?

Open multiplayer and click Create New Game. You end up in your room: send your friend the link shown there. They take the seat and you start the game. Make the room private and nobody can open it from the list, only with the link. You have 100 seconds for each move, and you can chat using the field below the card table.

How do I change the cards and the card back?

Click Cards in the game and choose a card set – modern, large or classic – and a card back. Your browser remembers your choice.

How do I change the background colour?

Click one of the colours in the bar below the card table. The buttons adapt to the colour, and your browser remembers your choice.

How do I change the language?

You can switch between German, English, Russian and Polish at the top right.

How do I change my name?

Click Profile in the game and enter your name. Your opponents in multiplayer will recognise you by it.

Statistics and progress

What do W, D, L and C mean?

In the tables, W stands for won, D for draw, L for lost and C for games that ended early.

How do I earn points and levels?

In multiplayer a win earns 2 points and a draw 1 point, a loss costs 1 point. Leaving a game early costs 4 points. Points take you up the levels – you can see where you stand under Profile.

Why does my position not change although I win or lose?

The others are playing too. Perhaps another player overtook you at the very moment you won or lost.

Why are my statistics not counting?

Your statistics are linked to your browser by a cookie. If cookies are blocked, you play in private mode or the cookies were deleted, they start again from zero. Allow cookies for this site in your browser settings – usually under "Privacy" or "Cookies".

How do I get my progress back or onto another device?

Enter your email address under Profile in the game and confirm it via the link in the email. After that you can restore your progress at any time under Restore data – after deleting cookies or on another device.
